Decent transmission rebuilder to get a rebuilt/ Reman 6L80E

I forgot to update this. Trans and transmission came roughly 1.5 days after ordering. I’ve got it on the schedule to put it in next Friday. Cutting it close, and I’ll actually have to pay for my labor but it’ll be worth it I think. The truck on paper is worth $9k, and I won’t have $5k in it

Decent transmission rebuilder to get a rebuilt/ Reman 6L80E

I’m really not sure. LKQ has markers for low mileage parts. They had a transmission listed at 126k miles as low mileage and quite a premium. I got one with 141k for $500 less. I don’t know what their cutoff is

Decent transmission rebuilder to get a rebuilt/ Reman 6L80E

Well I ordered the trans and T case. Little under $2,300 shipped for both to my work. I also checked the RPO codes on it, and it’s near fully loaded. Has remote start and a few other things.

Decent transmission rebuilder to get a rebuilt/ Reman 6L80E

I work for a Chevy dealer so I’m well aware of AFM problems and the transmission issues. I actually passed on a ‘08 that had the tick and a dead miss which I knew was a lifter issue and being unknown how long it ran, probably destroyed the camshaft. That truck was $2k and not in as good of...

Decent transmission rebuilder to get a rebuilt/ Reman 6L80E

Well I have a predicament. I thought the monitors were ready on the truck for inspection as that would have meant that I could have stickered it just so sales could finish up the ‘deal’ and deliver it, putting it free and clear into my name. I plugged it into my cheap reader today that checks...

What kind of oil should I use

Walmart has the Penzoil marine which is rated FC-W in the boat section of sporting goods. The rest of the marine lubricants are in the automotive section but the only other 4 stroke oils they carry is the 25w40 for the I\O engines.

Decent transmission rebuilder to get a rebuilt/ Reman 6L80E

True. LKQ brings us transmissions when one of the warranty companies calls out their own parts and they always have them drop shipped from LKQ

Decent transmission rebuilder to get a rebuilt/ Reman 6L80E

Jasper is at the top of my list, except that being a dealer; we are not a Jasper dealer and they won’t ship to a non installer. I did buy the truck. I’m still searching for transmissions. Monsters out. Lead times all over the place. I really want to own the truck for around $5k and it has a...

Considering a 22-25ft cabin cruiser. thoughts?

SC Chieftan 25’ would be my choice. $10-15k buys a nice one. 21’ Chieftain makes a good pocket cruiser. A Grady white or even a C-Dory could make a nice dual purpose cruiser

50th Anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald's demise

That’s a really good rendition. My wife’s uncle can sing it almost exactly like Gordon did

Decent transmission rebuilder to get a rebuilt/ Reman 6L80E

I’ve been looking for an inexpensive truck for a while to replace my wife’s deteriorating ‘15 Ram 1500 and I’ve asked the sales managers at work to keep an eye out and consideration for something that would wholesale otherwise. They haven’t had much, but today had a service customer sell his...

Aftermarket Mercruiser parts, What are you using???

Depends on what you’re talking about. A belt, you can literally spend $5 or $50 and get the same belt. Bellows cost so little extra it makes no sense to do anything other than OEM. Sierra water pump kits are okay as they last longer than the recommended replacement interval anyway

    Is this engine oil good?

Walmart sells quicksilver oil pretty cheap in the automotive boat section.. if you go to the marine section of sporting goods, you can get the Penzoil marine oil a little bit cheaper. Because that makes sense ( not ) 20w50 super tech would probably be just as good a ton cheaper. The only...

Inspecting 2002 Tracker 125 HP Outboard

They made a lot of them, and a lot of them are still in Service, so they by virtue of time alone vs how many still exist means they are fairly reliable.. I got one for free once helping an old guy swap a different motor on his boat. He hated the surge in power. As I recall he put a Suzuki 90hp...

    1985 Bayliner Capri Restore?

I’ve always wanted an 80s bayliner capri as they have a cool look…. But every time I think about needing to do fiberglass and spending $$$$ and time on it, I always let the particular boat I’m looking at pass by.

    Seafoam vs. Marine Pro Seafoam

It works okay as a decarbonizer, which isn’t what it was designed for. Water itself can work okay as a decarbonizer though

    Seafoam vs. Marine Pro Seafoam

Seafoam was invented to keep outboard fuel fresh in the 30s. It’s in the name. Fuel is much different today to where the product doesn’t do what it should, and it may never have.. but regardless you don’t need the marine version as the original was the marine version. It’s pale oil, alcohol and...

    2 Stroke Oil Thread

Oil that is not TCW3 rated is actually better oil. Air cooled 2 strokes need oil that burns off at a higher temperature. Theoretically that means that in a water cooled engine, all of the oil that should burn off, will not. Lawn Boy ( OMC owned/ invented until the 80s ) had their own brand of...

Penta 280 outdrive to mercedes om648

As Scott said. Hooking it up with an available adapter is just nuts and bolts. But you cannot run a dry exhaust. Figure out your cost to marinize the engine with wet exhaust. Keep in mind that production manifolds start at $1k in general
