    Digital permanent dwell readout.

I wouldn’t mind having a tach as well to really figure out what my max cruising speed should be, and 6v tachs are spendy as well as being too large. I just want something mostly hidden under the dash lip. I probably need like $10 worth of stuff. I might see what I can do if I get around to it...

    Digital permanent dwell readout.

I do the same. I just checked it Saturday and it was spot on still from last year. It is a 75 year old car with a 75 year old engine though, and it would show if anything happened inside the distributor

Is it Safe to boat, knowing you have partial rotten stringer?

Stringers for sure run on each side of the ski locker. Rot that far up in the boat is not good

    Digital permanent dwell readout.

I got a spare arduino I haven’t used that I got for $1, and an idea to create a digital tune up gauge for my ‘51 Plymouth ( stock 6v + ground points ignition ). I have an idea to have arduino calculate the point dwell and report it on a screen. Thinking it could calculate the RPM and display a...

    New project

I restored my grandfathers old Horse 5 ish years ago. Original Tec engine wasn’t in good shape last time it had run ( smoked ) and the carb was messed up so so I put on a Briggs Honda clone engine. It came with the brush guard/ bumper which didn’t fit the OHV clone engine so I actually went as...

    3.0 intake interchangeablultu

There are 2 or 3 different risers used. One style that is probably like you have where it goes straight back and has a small outlet. A second style that has a larger opening but goes off to the side and I think a third that uses a different bolt pattern on the riser base. As long as you get...

1961 Johnson 10hp QD22 points to electronic conversion

Nova II and BM 11 are extremely similar, and it’s well known that the Nova II will burn up on OMC coils as they cannot take the high tension. The old Atom modules were known to work well but have been discontinued.

    Yamabishi

They are 1:1 copies of Yamaha. They basically exist because china companies make the replacement parts and then realize if they tool up a few more parts like the engine block they can make whole outboards.. same thing happened with Chainsaws. Holzforma are cheap old versions of Stihl

    Yamabishi

The Marine Doctor on YouTube services a fleet of them that were bought new by a rental place or something and a couple of them overheated and burned up. He figured out that it was a defect in a water passage. Fixable but they have to come apart before they burn up… but yeah also Luke Macfadden...

Bilge Plug & bilge pump placement

That’s not what he was asking… he meant put the plug itself in from the inside, which is perfectly acceptable as many small boats do that.

    Artificial Intelligence

My wife and I just went on vacation and she found large canvas pictures that she wanted. Would not get one because she deemed it too expensive. And realistically they were cheap re prints. I told AI what I wanted in a picture and kept working with it till it was really close and then I had...

Bilge Plug & bilge pump placement

Plug can go inside if it will fit. I put it in from the inside on my 14’. Can’t on my big boat.. zip ties aren’t a great solution but it will work, that’s how my big boats pump is mounted for the season

Tools that younger people would not recognize.

There is a full working SUN machine not far from my house for sale for $50. Hes dropped the price from $300. I want it badly but don’t have the garage space. My Heathkit dwell tach doe’s everything I need. But the scope would be cool

    3.0L comparability

3.0 is commonly cracked externally and able to be patched…. However they are pretty cheap to buy good used.. going up to 1990, is an almost bolt in. need your rear mounts as the spacing is different, and the riser might need swapped.

    1976 mercruiser 140 carb

I’ve purchased a couple Chinese Amazon carbs and they seem to work fine. One was a Mercarb. I think Thundermingo or something like that was the brand. It ran a 3.0L just fine. Not the best quality but it did work

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

It might have a needle and look like a gauge.. but it is a digital gauge. It is not directly connected to the sender. It connects to the ECM and is driven by a stepper motor through a digital interface that uses logic.. there is an actual temp range that will cause it to read dead center of the...

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

That analog gauge is just a digital readout. Many modern engines replaced the thermostat with a coolant control valve which is usually buried

I was ‘That’ guy at the ramp coming in yesterday.

I’m hoping that I can get the winch stand raised up. I remember looking at the u bolts for it and it’s pretty crusty. Trailer is 99% excellent shape but you can kinda see the rust in that one picture. I have another trailer I could take another winch stand off of if I needed to
