Mercury 7.5 steering arm bracket help

Still going with this 😖 I have the mounts removed now, found some new ones to replace, I have disconnected the link rod reverse lock, so I thought now I should be able to lift the engine away from the saddle! Nope, the shift shaft goes down through the steering part attached to the saddle. Is...

Mercury 7.5 steering arm bracket help

Update, I have managed to remove 3 of the 4 mounts, had to drill them out due to rusted retaining clips. Stopped on the 4th, as there is a bar joining at the back, a link rod reverse lock?? Not sure how to remove that or from which end. The mounts are as the attached picture, and like rocking...

Mercury 7.5 steering arm bracket help

It's blue decals Scott. . I thought it's 1982 unless the cover was replaced at some point. Just looked at the middle link you posted, and that's what I have. That is a cover held in by the circlip. Gonna try and lever it out at the weekend, or failing that, drill a small hole in it to insert a...

Mercury 7.5 steering arm bracket help

I'm still assuming that as I can't see the screw in the centre that mine has a cover over the top of it that I need to lever out, or drill through to access the screw/bushing? And once that's out, I can remove screw, put a longer screw in to aid with pulling the bushes out?

Mercury 7.5 steering arm bracket help

Update: have spent the last couple of hours tapping on the saddle with a rubber mallet, and nothing is popping out. I still don't know if these are plastic covers I have to pry off first somehow? Do I hit the opposite side with something thin to try to push it through? There is nothing for me to...

Mercury 7.5 steering arm bracket help

Cheers, so do they push through from one sidexto the other, or are they 4 individual bushings that need so somehow be pulled out individually? I can't see any way of actually pulling them out as there's nothing there to grip?

Mercury 7.5 steering arm bracket help

Ok thanks, is that a better way to do it? I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to outboards, So the 6 nuts, will that remove the whole top part of the engine as one piece, or is there other stuff to do with the engine before I can access the bracket?

Mercury 7.5 steering arm bracket help

Ok so I'm at a bit of a loss here 😫 Im guessing I'm on the correct mounts here? So I have removed the circlip, and I'm just looking at a blank plate with seemingly no way to get it out without drilling a hole in the middle of it?

So removing the engine from the swivel shaft is just those 2 big bolts or mounts on each side of the shaft with the circlips right?...

Is this a big job? i can just about see the nuts that hold it on but cant quite get to them. Do i need to...
