I have a rebuilt carb that I'm trying to learn up on putting in a merc bigfoot. Today I was taking a picture of the existing carb to send to the local dealer to get O rings. I noticed there were bits of gas on the carb. It seemed to be coming from the black thing I show in my picture (I'm inexperienced at this...it's a black kind of bellows). Sorry, don't know what it's called. I was pushing around on it to see if I could see any cracks and was able to pretty easily lift it off of it's connection. It seemed like there was a groove in the bottom of it and I wondered if there may have previously been some kind of ring there keep it tight. Now I wonder if this could be the cause of the engine only being able to handle the throttle halfway up?
