hello. I have a 1996 mercruiser 5.7 2bbl in my lund. I have a leak in my power steering system that i have been unable to locate so far. I originally assumed it was the cooler, but i removed it and pressurized it (PS side) with 25psi of air, and submerged it under water for an hour. there was no leak detected. the hoses look fine. that leaves me with the pump, which shows no signs of leaking, or the ram assembly on the transom. this is extremely hard to get a good look at, although i will remove some panels to get better access. my question is are these rebuild able? if so, what numbers do i need to get the correct seals? when i fill the PS, it works fine, just leaks out somewhat quickly, like 5-10 hours or so, run time.

Take a white or light colored rag and feel along the HP hose to see where the fluid shows up

You can wipe the rag over the unit to see if any oil shows up

rebuild kits for the pump are about $14 should you need it

usually its the return hose that leaks
