01 Johnson 25hp blown piston

2001 Johnson 25hp 3 cylinder, J25RV3SIE. Was out for holidays this past week first day, motor started fine and idled good too, was out at full throttle, motor bogged down and quit. It was pumping water fine until it quit and locked up. Last night I started to do a tear down and found cylinder 2 piston blew it has metal fillings everywhere, I was able to un lock it and now have the engine moving freely. The cylinder wall does not appear to be damaged but my thinking could be different from someone elses. My question is what can I do in this situation, I've totally rebuilt the lower unit last winter, is it possible to do a tear down and rebuild??? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Was the oil mixing unit removed on this motor ?-----Parts availability should be checked first.-----Your location ?

Pistons are available thru WSM and trash the oiler if still hooked up. Post a picture as metal everywhere sounds like pre-ignition...

Thanks for the info, I recently removed the O M S and switched to premix fuel 50:1 I'm in Ontario, sourcing parts has been a bit challenging but will see what WSM has. I will try again on getting a few pictures up.

The piston I got several years ago was a .030 as went back and pulled ticket...Was either a WSM(use 90% of time)OBR/Red Rhino, Pro-Marine or Donavans as have accounts at all of them. Just didn't put brand on ticket,only size bored.
