Greetings all,
I've got an issue that I'm stuck on and seeking assistance. I've aquired this motor 2002, 15hp (BF 15) which has been running in salt water. First of all, I'm not sure how much water this motor should be pumping. Starts fine, runs great... but the above water exhaust spout, in the back center of the motor, is just trickling out.

Things I've done to improve flow:
1) I've rebuilt the water pump. The impeller is spun correctly in the housing and all looks great.
2) I've checked/pulled the thermostat and it pours out of there when running briefly.
3) The small hose that squirts out the back right rear is blasting out.
4) I've tried compressed air up that spout and it just bubbles out near the prop when I do that.

I'm stumped!! Do I have to pull the powerhead to clear a water port or something?? I'd appreciate any suggestions,

You have been chasing your tail. That exhaust port is an idle relief port and will offer very little water output under almost all circumstances. As long as you are not overheating and the telltale is adequate you should be allright.

I appreciate your 'confident' reply! I am so used to the Evinrudes & Johnsons that throw out water and seeing a trickle freaked me out and I didn't want to run the motor too long. The block feels hotish', but that might be normal with explosions just on the other side!

Keep in mind that you have overheat,as well as low oil and rev limiter protection built into this engine.Depending on where you put your hands this engine can be very hot to quite warm after warm up.Test that op temp at the t stat housing at the engine flush port.It should be somewhat hottish,140 degrees, but to the touch, not unbearable. If you are overheating the engine will limit power and eventually shut down.
