2003 225hp honda 4 stroke

Engine was running rough, had a bad pencil coil on lower port cyl., replaced with a new coil, changed all the plugs, engine runs fine, was concerned about plugs because another mechanic said make sure to put grease on plugs..so took new plugs out, and found oil on the new pencil coil, the old bad coil had no oil, none of the other coils had oil, but this one does,( no oil on plug) put everything back together, runs like a clock..called mech..he says there are o-rings at the end of the tube cyl the coil slides into, says its no big deal unless i have to start replacing the coil rapidly because of possible short, anyone ever hear of anything like this? I know diesels but am new to outboards and am clueless in florida.

Hi,

Not serious, coils are oily because of the oil sepage from the coil tube oilseals on the tappet cover of the perticular cylinder. And while greasing the plugs do not forget to use antiseize grease otherwise no use, plugs will get stuck.

Cheers
