The old one started not working off and on. Assumed it was going bad, bought a new factory one, wanted to use the boat Saturday, the new one won't kill it either.

WTF is going on? White wire touched to motor block won't kill it. Took ground off again and made sure I had nice shiny connections there to the ground metal, all that looked good.

Now I guess its time to go check some stuff with my ohm meter.

Any clues what to look for?

This motor since one tank of ethanol has been nothing but a PITA. Before that, it was the best motor I'd ever run...

Ohm meter answered it all just now. I have a good switch, and had a good connection to the ground bracket. But the ground bracket has lost its connection to the block somehow. I read it all and realized I was not getting to ground. Bared the wire in the middle, put on an extra crimp on ring, and pulled a bolt that held a wire clip to the block, dropped the ring under that, put it back on. Bingo. works perfectly.

Thanks, Jeff
