03 F225 yami will not shift into FWD gear stopped.

I can not seem to get my motor to shift into FWD gear unless I manually turn the prop a little then it slips in. reverse is ok.

Is this normal not to be able to get it into gear when not running?
I am afraid of dropping her in the water then not being able to get it in gear.
My 2 stroke shifted fine and smooth when not running/

I have adjusted the cable to specs.

keep shifting without either the propshaft or driveshaft rotating and your gonna be posting about busted cam followers or twisted shift shafts. its just stupid, not much else I can say.

Ok, so i guess the motor has to be running....

not what i said, i said either the propshaft or driveshaft need to be rotating.
nothing to do with engine runing or not.
the 6 projections on the clutch have to mesh with the 6 projections on the gear, if they line up and you force it something gives, a bad thing.
