'04 15 hp shifting

Just got an '04 15 hp. When shifting into reverse, engine speeds up before going into gear. Is there an online service manual available? Thanks, Kurt

If this is the motor with the tiller shift it sounds like your cables need to be adjusted or a link and sync needs to be done.

You could google free online service manuals and see what pops up.
I'm going with flyingscott, its your cable adjustment, link and sync, if you have carbs.
We have 2002 Mercurys EFI injectors, your a 2004 do you have injectors?
