04 Q4 f/s - trolling motor plate removal??

I have been removing my trolling motor by taking the 4 phillips head screws out. After realizing this seemed ridiculous, I figured the large aluminum plate has to come off with it somehow. This would make it much simpler to remove the troll motor. How the heck do I get it off?

Most troll motors do have a release from the aluminum mounting plate. Mines has a knob you turn until the locking pin lowers from mounting plate and then I have to pull a lever to completely detach from the plate. Without knowing what kind of troll motor you have, we probably cannot make a recommendation.

Trolling motor is a motor guide. Came with the boat

Still not enough info...Model no. and year. You may want to search on internet for parts and look at the diagram to see how it disengages from the mounting plate.
