takes quite a few turns of the key it fires and dies give it a little throttle and 2nd or 3rd time it starts once its on it will run like a raped ape

Take it to a dlr and have him put his lap top on it to see if you have any codes. What you have isn't normal. Today you need a lap top to trouble shoot those mtrs.

could it be a rigging problem cause had motor removed to fix boat redone floor, gelcoat motor put back on it started to have the hard to start. before that it worked fine

The throttle cable could be misadjusted causing the TPS to be out of proper adjustment.

should it be touching the lever cause mine u have to move it a little bit for it to bolt like on the cars
