I have an 05 Merc 115 ELPTO two stroke on a Tracker TV-18 bass boat. Just noticed that while on a run at crusing speed the tach starts to fluctuate and show higher RPM but the motor does not sound like it is speeding up or slowing down. The change is as high as 4K and low as about 3K.

Also started having vapor lock problems. Ambient temps in the 80s at mid mornings. Open the fuel line at the filter, filter is clean, then put it back together and it will run fine for several outings and suddenly wont start after a slow speed run while looking for structure to fish.

Look for bad connections at the bad of the tacho, or the connector on the harness at the front of the control box.

Make sure the tank vent is open... You are using fresh fuel... If you use fuel purchased in winter, during summer you will have vapour lock problems....

Fuel is fresh fuel. I also fish during winter. I will also check the connections next time out. Thanks for your help.
