Greetings:

I am considering buying an '05 SeaRay Sundeck 200 I spotted at a local marina. Boat has only 45 hours and is in great shape. Its powered by a 5.0L Merc. and has the swim platform, Alpha outdrive, etc. Trailer is also included. Boat was drydocked as well.

Dealer wants "between $29.9K and $31.0K.." for this beast. I'd like to pull the trigger but I am hesitant on price - NADA on the web lists avg retail at $25.5. A search of the iBoats used list brings up 3 between $26.5 and $29.9.

Bottom line is I need some help with pricing. Is the NADA "book" price ay off - do these things command more in real world situations, should I offer $27K and see where it goes..you get the drift.

Any help would be appreciated and thanx in advance.

well 2009's will be out in 6 months, with only 45 hours, it is going to command a higher value, but it is still a used boat. you know 20% 1st year, then 10% for year 2 and 10% for year 3. but condition, bears a lot. i still think 30,000 is too much.

What area are you in as this will also be a deciding factor in the price. But, 30K sounds a bit too high for that boat unless it looks like it has never seen a person or the water. Print off nay craigs list adds you can find, the NADA price and any other lisitngs you can find.

Go to the dealer and work with him on te best price. Tell him you want to help him sell the boat to you. ;)

Show him what you found in your research, offer $27.5, leave your phone # and walk. Bet he calls later. Boats of this size with V8s are not selling too well right now.
