On a recent fishign trip, upon full throttle from dead still, the motor went into limp mode( ran rough, rpm reduction, and warning buzzer). When rpms reached 1500, the buzzer stopped. Upon taking off slow, no symptoms appeared. Though it was bad gas but after getting home checked the oil level and found it barely registering on the dipstick. The motor has been running great with no excessive smoke that I have noticed nor any noticeable performance issues. I changed the oil 100 hours ago and have been lax on checking it. Low oil will set off the alarm and reduce the rpm. It only happened when getting going quickly which severly raised the bow and dipped the stern. No visible oil leaks appear anywhere in the engine that I can see from visual inspection. I have followed all prescribed schedules and it appears to be burning a lot of oil. Would a leak down test be in order? I do not feel comfortable with that much oil being burned. It is under warranty. Any ideas or thoughts? I do not believe I hurt the engine. It reacted as expected. I will pull the plugs today to see if they appear excessively black or oily. I will post results.
