Would be pleased for your help boat people. I am removing the upholstery that runs down the inside of my boat to have it re-upholstered. I have removed paneling from both sides but cant work out how to dismantle the throttle on the boats inside from the back mechanism (on the inside of the panelling). I want to leave the throttle and arm with the boat and remove the panelling which is fitted within both sides of the throttle assembly.

The throttle lever (on inside) has a hub cap that I am sure must access a nut that will disengage the 2 parts but I cant work out how to remove this plastic cap without busting it? Screw driver in one side looks like it will break under the pressure...

Would really appreciate your help ;)

With the shift/throttle lever in neutral, push the "throttle only" (that little plastic button you refer to) button and move the lever to forward WOT. The button should come out with relative ease. If you don't do this, it will break. This is for a Gen2 control. On earlier models, the same technique is used except the lever is moved to reverse WOT.

Re: 08 Bayliner 195 Discovery - How to remove throttle from upholstery?

Thank you for your detailed reply Seabob4. I have now uploaded some clearer pictures to work with. I have tried to pop the cap out by levering out with screwdriver with the throttle position in reverse last night. Today after your post I again tried in the fwd position without any success. All I seem to be doing is damaging the paint job on the throttle arm with the screwdriver when I try to pry it out. Is there something I am missing here. Appreciate your advice.
