08 optimax 225 fuel

I had a 98 johnson 225 ocean pro on my boat i just got from a dealership and the motor was bad i filled up the 80 gal fuel tank with the 50/50 oil mix the dealership is replacing the motor with an 08 mercury 225 hp optimax can i run the fuel that i have in the boat throught the optimax or do i need to drain the fuel and replace it

optimax runs on a special oil. I wouldn't take the gamble.

You can run a good quality TCW oil in an Optimax. Back in the day, before dedicated DFI oils, most ran Merc Premium Plus oil.

The bigger issue is the Opti is oil injected. You would be running double the oil for the life of that tank of fuel. Plug fouling could be an issue depending on how you use the motor

Well i run the motor at a little over 3/4 throttle most of the time i have a 9.9 pro kicker i use for trolling

Like dingbat above said,the optrimax is oil injected.
A thought ,what if you use up the premix fuel, and dont fill the oil injection until you use all the pre-mix fuel? will this damage the oil injection?

An Opti is a computerized motor and is smart enough that the motor won't start or run if there is no oil in the oil tank. Optimaxs are too expensive to repair.

Please only comment when you know what you're talking about.

Drain it and use a separate tank for kicker if a 2 stroke

You would destroy the motor!!!!!!!.
