I am looking at an 09 that looks really clean and sounds good with good compression all around. The only negative is it was on a sheriffs boat and has 1500 hours running mostly at 1200rpm.

Does anybody have a feeling on what 1500 hours means.

I am re-powering an older boat and don't want to spend ton's of dough but want something that is newer for reliability.

Thanks for any input.

If well treated, 1500 hours is well broken in, Steve. If she were a car that would be around 75K miles. That seems a lot of hours for a 4 year old, but Sheriffs usually treat em well.

If all they did was run at that rpm I would wonder if it is broke in yet. If it was myself, I'd go for it. Those law enforcement people usually take pretty good care of their equipment.

I just came back and saw your location. If it's been in fresh water all it's life that's another plus. You can see where I'm from.

Thanks for the input. You are both stating what I was thinking. Fresh water, govt maintained and not being run flat out getting from fishing spot to fishing spot should all be plus's.

On other question, it is a counter rotation motor, that shouldn't make any difference?

No it shouldn't. I've see a lot of single applications with counter rotators.
