Hey guys I have a 77'sea ray with a mercruiser 165hp/ pre alpha drive. I have the traditional 3 button trim switch, It would only trailor up with both the middle and the top buttons pressed in. So to make it easier I jumped a wire from the bottom botton to the top to bypass the middle button. It worked fine. Well I got it all soldered and taped up and now it doesn't work. niether the top botton, or the middle and top pressed together. The bottom trim down button still works fine. Any suggestions?

Remove your jumper wire from the 3 button panel... Go to the trim pump and find the connectors for the trim limit switch. remove the existing wires and put a short jumper in there. No soldering required.

Re: "1" drive trim switch issues

Well, just found out the problem. I guess it will only trim up when the drive is in neutral or forward. I had it in reverse and the trim up will not work, only down. It will trim down in fwd/neutral/rev is this right? I don't think I'll have to trim the motor up in reverse anyways

Chris, I already have soldered the jumper onto the switch and it is working, (except the "up" in reverse) is this the wrong way of doing it? If is is I will take your advise and bypass the trim limit switch your way.

Thanks for the help
