I just replaced the starboard power trim cylinder and the port cylinder is about 8 years old. The old, port cylinder moved up and down fast before the installation of the new cylinder but after I put in the new one, it is always lagging behind in movement. I have done the purging of air according to manual.
MY guess is that the newly-installed cylinder is running better and smoother and it takes lesser pressure to move it . And when it is fully compressed or fully extended, the oil pressure builds up and now makes the old cylinder move faster. There's no more air to purge and no more bubbly oil in the reservoir.
What is your experience about changing one side only?
Thanks.
