I think they might have called for something like 16:1 a half pint per gallon. But with "todays" modern 2 cycle oils TCW3 it's safe to run it at 24:1 or even 32:1

Denjud, Stick with 16:1.
Modern oil ratios are more a result of improvements in engine technology
not improvements in oil technology.
Oil is the life blood of your motor let it do its job.

Howdy, Denjud.

There wasn't an OD-13, but a QD-13 is a 1952 10 hp and needs a 24:1 mix, according to Johnson.

That is 6 gallons of 87 octane unleaded, alcohol free gasoline and 1 quart of TC-W3 rated oil.

Good luck. :)

Thanks Yepblaze - Steelespike - & JB - yes it is QD-13 - Can you tell me? If I put an inline fuel filter in, will it foul up fast because of the oil? THANKS FOR THE INFO!!
denjud

Howdy, Denjud.

An in-line filter is a good idea. The oil in the gas will not clog it.

Good luck. :)

Howdy Folks,

I run a 1957 10hp Johnson at 24:1. Which is the reccommended ratio. I don't feel comfortable with the idea of running these old timers leaner than they were originally intended. Oh yeah, and my motor runs like a champ!

Just my 2 cents.
