10 hp Johnson Seahorse

I have a 10 hp Johnson Seahorse I know very little about and am wondering if anybody can tell me the year and where I might find a manual for it (if that is even possible). The plate on the motor has the following information:<br /><br /> Model #: OD-15<br /> Serial #: 1177817<br /><br />I am also curious as to what this outboard might be worth as I am considering upgrading to a 15 hp in which case I would sell the Seahorse. The motor is in good shape considering the age and seems to run fine.<br /><br />Thanks for your help.

Double check your model number, I'm pretty sure its a QD-15 (there was no "OD" series of model numbers), which would be a 1954 vintage. Try www.kencook.com for any manuals, or, sometimes you can find them on e-bay.<br /><br />-John

Tb2,John is correct. Look a little closer and see if it reads QD 15 in which case it would be a 1954.Worth? $200 .Just a guess depending on the condition and demand.Before you exhaust looking for manual decide whether you are going to keep or sell.

Your motor is a 54 10 hp. The common aftermarket service manuals start at 56 but the motors are very similar.Reprints of originals may be available at www.kencook.com you may need deep<br />pockets.<br /> Not an expert on prices but a good running<br /> motor that looks almost 50 years old would<br />probably get 200 dollars the price of a as new motor motor would surprise you.Check ebay and keep in mind the buyers are paying shipping that many times is over 100 dallars.

We were at an antique market today and picked up a 10 hp Seahorse Johnson. We too have a QD-15 serial number 164700.
Can you tell if what year it would be by the serial number? It is so clean and it has all the original parts. Can you tell me if we can get used parts? We are in Ontario .

all QD-15's are 1954 10hp
