A manufacturer's posted HP is one thing. But some folks can take that same engine and turn amazing power out of the same displacement. And then the Lake Patrol would have to prove it wasn't a 10 HP engine. But who would actually want to do that for such a restricted lake? Way more trouble then it would ever be worth. Even folks using 15 HP engines disguised as10 HP on such lakes really are not getting much of anything out of the addition 5 HP. JMHO

your exactly right GM snickers i did in fact up my hp to 15 and the speed went up 1 mph but the big improvement was with 6 on board before it was 4 mpg by gps and after it is 7 lolol that mat not sound like much but its a 30 minute difference in cruze time out to the swimming beach, ok some base numbers, with me and no gear 12 mph with normal gear load thats 10 mph me and a passenger its 8 mph and i am very sure that about every motor that can be has been changed

i dont miss the high hp lakes its like the lakes i was on as a kid, you know most every one and their freindly

How big is this lake? Mine is about 4 miles long and 2 miles wide at the widest. It's tiny, but the 40 hp rule makes it reasonable. As I stated earlier, 14 ft minimum so there aren't any 10 ft. Speedboat s tooling around. The lake is very peaceful. I wish it were 50 just so my boat would work better but I wouldn't even have a place on the lake if it were 10 hp. If we are talking about a 2 mile long Lake I can see the 10hp but if it's bigger, that is a bit too strict.

Impounding and selling someone's boat is super bottom feeder. Unless it is stated at every ramp, I would bet the owners would have a great court case. They would probably even make some money in the process. If stated clearly at each ramp... Shame on you. Dumb thing to do, take a chance like that.

I have been hearing of the DNR guys checking serial numbers at a few lakes in Ohio this year and writing tickets. Mainly tournament fishermen getting hit, around here it is common to put 9.9 decals on a 15. Many modified 9.9hp motors here also, usually only minor differences between 9.9 and 15 motors. Carbs or restrictors usually.

I Googled the lake and understand now the 10 hp. It's long but very slalom like. My lake is more box shaped and lends itself to higher HP. Your lake seems like a hazard with higher HP engines. My lake is Pecks Lake. Gloversville, NY. If interested in Google mapping it.

yes its a mountain lake, they flood the valleys but it makes for a lot of scenery its a shallow lake to its 35 feet at the deepest part, i call it a mud puddle lol but its one of those things, i learned many many years ago happy wife happy life, and when i told the wife i was planning on getting another boat, she smiles and said i would really like a toon on beach fork and i have a 3000 bonus coming and you cant argue with that
