10 hr service on new 9.8 tohatsu now it smokes after start. I used the motor yesterday and after it sat about 2 hours I restarted it and there was blue smoke for about 1-2 minutes. I check the oil level and it was correct. My understanding is the dealer replaced the break-in oil with regular oil and now it seems if left in the down position some oil is getting into the combustion chamber. Is this normal? It did not smoke before the oil change. Thanks!

The oil level should be below the full mark. There is no such thing as break-in oil for these motors. It's all "regular oil", which should be NMMA-certified type FC-W, SAE 10w-30 non-synthetic (mineral) oil. Slight over-choking, some oil spilled into the intake from transport, or slightly over-full crankcase can all cause that symptom. Probably nothing to worry about.

When you restarted OB after sitting for 2 hours, was blue smoke comming out while warming up again at idle or when opening throttle ?

It smoked at idle and when I revved the engine in neutral after I started it. It's stopped before I got underway. Thing is it never smoked before the oil change. Is the thicker non break in oil causing the smoke? Is this considered normal?

It might have just been some oil that spilled out during the oil change. Once you started running it, the oil was burning off. As Paul mentioned, there is no "break in" oil on a 4-stroke. It's not like the old 2-strokes where you mixed the oil in the gas and during break-in you mixed it double-strength. The 4str. is just like your car...the oil is in the crankcase and doesn't get mixed/burned with the gas. It sounds like what Paul said; probably either some spilled out during the oil change, or some spilled out while transporting it back home from the dealer.
