My 100 hp 2+2 2 stroke Merc 1989 was running great. However took it for a longer drive and this weird noise came out of the throttle control that sounded like a sick bird chirping. The pitch varied and it didn't seem to have any sort of regular pattern. When starting the engine you get a beep confirming that the alarm is working. Also the pee hole has fluid coming out of it within a minute of starting and the oil tank is full.

I am pretty sure this isn't the alarm for low oil or over heating but would like some sort of clarification on this. Anyone else experience this? Is it possible that is is just bad wiring?

I have the same engine. My alarm started going haywire years ago. Diagnosed as a bad alarm module which is a small black square unit attached to the lower portion of the powerhead. Bought and installed a new one and that fixed it. Two years later I started getting the same problem again and said screw it I'm not buying another module. I disconnected the wire to the buzzer. Been fine ever since. I watch the oil consumption in the tank and the temp gauge like a hawk. Never a problem.
