Bit the bullet and paid it off! Now I can save at least $500 a MONTH towards a bigger down for house!!!
Ahhhhh.....just had to "happy vent" :)

Re: 100% out of debt!!!

Congrats, I was making some serious strides in becoming debt free, but a layoff from my employer put a damper on things... Withing the next month or 2 I should have 1 card payed off, and be able to roll that expense into my next CC...trying to kill my debt from the snowball method..Its just taking longer then expected with unemployment..

I try my best to keep my head high, but its gets to be trying times sometimes. I will eventually make it, just gotta keep plugging away.

I cant wait for me to be able to post that I am debt free, I probably wont have to post, as you all should be able to hear me scream it :)

Yea no **** huh? With all the jet ski bash threads around here along with the bad news I was thinking of making this forum part of my past, not future.

Re: 100% out of debt!!!

what didnt work with the good news section?
And as for being debt free, I got some great advice here and also stood firm, when ever I got a raise, bonus, extra, 90% of it went to debt payoff, made a few calls to creditors, one zeroed out interest and I auto paid off. Also cut expenses left and right, cook at home etc.
It took me 5.5 years and during this time I went through divorce, 2 lay offs and crap from exes, garnishments, etc.
Just got my congrat letter from credit union for paying truck off :)
Everyone can attempt this I believe, of course it's tough if you under water with a house and kids......first step is facing all, fight one battle at a time, rejoice in small victories, treat yourself at times, and go on :)

and the coolest thing is...........Tonight I am treating some great friends to dinner(I'm cooking) here, jacuzzi, pool, games. They tight on money, so just insisted on bringing potato salad.
I like this stuff!! And to do whatever my son and I want, we easily pleased, not fancy, and could do lots more, but no need :)

Less is more , as I see it. My friends are easy to please as well, no potato salad necessary, but always welcome.

Congrats EZ!! Good move and good example of what can be done with some dedication and some smart choices!!
We are working on do the same thing in our household and I'm loving every minute of it. I've never been one to consider 'shopping' a sport or suffered much from 'Crows disease' which is the love to acquire shiny new things.
As a result some simple fun and food with friends never fails to reinforce the good priorities.
Good on ya!!!:)

Re: 100% out of debt!!!

Debt free is the only way to be ... have only used credit to my advantage a couple of times, the rest of my life has been debt free. Had parents that taught me the importance of that ... and that is the reason I have the toys and house I have, because all the money went into earning money and paying for things, not giving anything to the banks to get my wants earlier than I could afford to get them.

A huge congratulations to you, Heinz! And because you have reached your initial goal, I have no doubt a nice house for you and the kids will be coming along soon. Stick to your plan and your next goal will be reached. I salute you!

We paid off both trucks, AND the house within 3 months of each other.

NOW, if we could just control the cost of groceries, and gas !!!!!! ;)
