I inherited a boat project with a 79 100hp johnson - intermittent spark that has become a no spark. When I fist checked, I had no spark from one bank only which led me to suspect a CD4 ignition pack #582125. After replacing this I have found there is no spark on either bank - sometimes it will kick in and run for a short while, happened only 2 times. Here is what I have checked so far.
1. Found the BK/YL wires to CD power packs ok (OL key on and grounded key off).
2. Tested for power at the RED feed to the CD packs = ok.
3. Removed Flywheel and inspected signal generator and stator wiring for chaffs/opens = none.
4. measured resistance in signal generator for both banks - each were .585Kohms (No wiring diagrams or data to check this out with. Suspect either both good or both bad as readings are identical for both banks.)
