I thought this was going to a simple swap, but with no diagram and old cracked rectifier not the same as the new one, I haven't a clue which wires go to which leads.Old rectifier is a straight line with no markings. positive wires from the two coils are conected to the opposite ends, while the middle goes to electronic choke. The new rectifier is diamond shape with one lead marked + and other two are unmarked.

Re: 100hp rectifier

Have you got a part number for the new rectifier? Post it here maybe someone can find a diagram on the net. Are you sure it goes to the choke or is it the starter solenoid?

The new rectifier number is 154-6770. Yes, I traced it from the choke to the middle connection of the old rectifier, then a wire goes from there to my forward control(choke button, I beleive). The motor is a 1963 Merc 1000

The two wires from the stator go to the unmarked terminals. The other wire goes to the +. It should be a red wire that runs directly to the wiring harness. If it runs to the choke solenoid, I believe you found the reason it burned up. Should be two red wires out of the internal harness...one to the starter solenoid, one to the rectifier. The choke should have one wire going to it from the harness(gray)

If you have any quetions concering the part here is the email address to the company that makes the regulator. Ask them to email you the data sheet for the part number. Looks like someone else answered your question though. Good Luck
support@rapair.com

Good luck

Re: 100hp rectifier

Thanks fellows, after having the lower unit rebuilt by a pro, then I helicoiled 3 spark plugs, replaced the cracked dist.cap, wires ,plugs, paint,I thought I was getting to know the motor personally. What I should have done is buy a service manual first,or a different motor!
