Hello,
I have a 1966 Merc. 110 (9.8hp). It runs great, and idles down good. I have been told a few times now that this is the same motor as the merc. 15hp, just different carbs. Is this true??? Could I actually change carbs and get 15hp.?

Just curious, seems a little far fetched. I have changed carbs on a lot of things and can't remember that much of a gain.

Interesting.

Yesterday I looked at the parts list for a 7.5 Model 75 and the 9.8 110. Same parts across the board with the exception of the carb. Look at a parts list for both motors, if the crank and pistons are the same the displacement is the same. Being the 75 and 110 are the same I'd guess the 15 HP is different.
The only parts I found different between a 7.5 and a 9.8 are the carb and decal set! I did not check the prop pitch to see if they are different.

Did Merc build a 15 HP during those years?
