Hey Everyone!

Shay has gone to the beach with his grandparents for the week. So I am not sure if there will be any major updates this week, except for me asking questions, reading the wiring schematic, and trying to figure out what parts needs to be replaced. But if anyone has any questions for me or any suggestions, please send them my way.

Shay did ask that I go ahead and get the engine running, but when you work for 8 hours a day and drive for two a day, by the time I get home I am ready to just chill. So I am not sure his request will be complete, but we will see.

Some of you were wondering where is Shay getting his money for this boat?

The answer is:

He works around my house with chores and what not. He works at his mother's house in the neighborhood doing odd and end jobs.

Right now he has $62.00 saved up so we or he is on a tight budget when it comes to buying parts and what not. So we have to make sure that he gets the most out of each and every dollar.

If anyone has any further questions, feel free to ask.

Hello everyone!

Well today was a good and bad day, so to speak. I have posted some videos on Shay's blog. The "Shae", which is what Shay named the boat. "Shae" is the female version of "Shay". Anyway I think it has some big electrical problems and I have a ton of questions about this engine. I do not want to double post so I am going to add the link to all my engine/electrical questions in the Volvo Penta I/O thing, once I have created it.

A lot of people refer to boats as holes in the water into wich you throw money.

I refer to the time I spend working on my boats as quality time, some times my boys even help

Craigs list, E bay, marinas, boating friends can all be a huge help to keep expenses down.

Just owning a boat does not a boater make, take your time, make informed decisions and above all keep it safe.

Tackle your problems one at a time, get a decent battery in it and start there. Short bursts on the starter while checking each component. Its just an engine, fuel, spark and air in the right sequence is all it needs to run.

We're all pullin for you to get this thing started so you can go on to the next step


Good luck, in no time you'll be lookin to perform some upgrades.

Before Shay purchased this boat I told him that boat stands for "Bust Out Another Thousand"...LOL!

Anyway, we will keep on keeping on, Joe Dirt reference there....hahahahaha.

Oh, what a proud Father you must be. Heck I'm proud of him and don't even know him.

Here is a photo of another hard working Shay. The Shay engines worked the logging mountains in West Virginia. Many are still working today for tours. Sorry for getting off topic. Carry on.

Has anyone previously mentioned ya'll making sure you can register and title, if applicable, both the boat and the trailer BEFORE you spend anymore money? You don't actually need to pull the trigger, just check with the appropriate state agency to determine that your paperwork is correct and complete. Good luck!

Great idea! We have the registration from the previous owner. What else do we need to do? I have never registered a trailer or boat before. I thought that if the weight of the trailer and the boat weighed less than 3,000lbs, then no worries.
