Re: 115 4 stroke

Without knowing anything about either engine I'd like to have the 4 stroke.
Neighbor just installed two 250 Yahama's on his Grady and are they ever sweet!! Absolutely no noise, no vibration, no oil/fuel mix problems. Damn near bulletproof. :D

Re: 115 4 stroke

I'm deciding on a 115 yamaha or merc 4 stroke or a 90 e tec and I'm about to make a thread about it.

Here is what I know.
Depending on what you want. The 2 stroke will have more torque for pulling a skier and give you more hole shot.
The 4 stroke will give you more fuel economy and run quieter. Some say they will last longer than a 2 stroke but I think they will all last a long time with proper care. Hope this helps.

Re: 115 4 stroke

I suggest that you don't assume we can read your mind about the brands and models of engines you are talking about. There are at least four different brands of 115hp EFI 4 stroke outboards. I assume that you are talking about Mercury.

Compared to the Suzuki and Honda 115hp EFI 4 strokes I find the Mercury noisy. I am prejudiced against Mercury because of Brunswick's refusal to let their boat customers decide what engines they want.

I would not get any 2 stroke unless it was an E-tec, and I am mad at BRP over their used car salesman approach to marketing the E-tec.

That leaves Yamaha, Honda, Tohatsu and Suzuki. I have used the Yammy, Suzi and Honda and all are very good engines.
