1973 115 ,went thru carbs and coils and new power pak, runs great after it starts. wont start cold,no mater how much ball pumping and choke holding. does not have idle increase lever. Only way to start is to shoot quick start into carbs and hold advance arm ahead a little.Once it warms it'll restart o.k.Doesnt seem to pull gas in when cold. ??? thanks

they all have idle increase lever. which control do you have? a picture of the control would help. there are several controls with different methods of fast idle.

quick start spray is the easiest way to burn a hole in a piston.

Re: 115 hard start

The warmup lever on the standard control advances the timing a lot and opens the throttles a little. Whatever method you use to accomplish this will have the same result, a quicker and easier cold start.

The choke plates have be perfectly synchronized and close 100% to function properly; the only way to assure that that is happening is to take the air silencer cover off the carburetors and watch the plates while someone cranks the engine. The plates need to stay closed when the vacuum from the cylinders pulls at them or they will not help with the cold start. You can adjust the movement by moving the choke solenoid in small increments.

If you are running the stock controls it does have a warm up lever. Maybe yours is broken off and you can't see it. Take a look at the parts breakdown to see where it is.
