Hi All,
I am a newbie to repairing outboards...is changing the water pump something that I can tackle or should I have a service department do it for me. I am mechanicaly inclined. Thanks for your input!

Hi there, basically an easy task if you have the correct manual for the motor on hand, better spending out on a manual than a mechanic, the one thing you need to know about dropping your lower end is that there is a bolt setup on the top of the shift rod that goes down through the leg of your outboard you access this under your carburettors, this must be undone before the lower end will drop away,(after undoing the 4 bolts that hold the lower end on of course)
theres plenty of posts detailing this procedure use the red search link at the top of this page
use waterpump 115 as search terms should find many articles on this , good luck regards Chris

Shift linkage disconnected and 6 bolts holding the lower unit on. Not that hard to do, but a manual is a must for the first time unless someones shows you how to do it.
