115 Johnson idle RPMs????

[V4 Johnson]

Could someone give me the idle RPM spec for a 1984 Johnson 115 V4??

I got no manual with the motor. From about 800-1000 RPM on up to 5500 it runs like a Swiss watch. But it wants to stall at idle, which the guy had set at around 500 RPM. Is it idling too slowly?? Or might it be a timing or mixture issue??

700-800 rpm in the water in gear.

650 should be fine, again in gear in the water. 500 is too low to expect the motor to run.
