115 Johnson will not fire

It only had spark on number 2 cly. while beating on top of the flywheel it finally fired. you think I'm in the right direction for replaceing the points/ timer base? or is there a different issue?

engine started and ran fine the day before on its/my madien voyage

you need to get an OEM manual, you have a stator, and power pack, not a points system. outboardbooks.com for manual.
there are 6 pages of test here fine your motor,

go on ebay and you can buy a manual on cd for less than $20.00 it has 403 pages and lots of photos
