Primer bulb hardens up can see fuel in fuel fliter lift up throttle and turn key with choke on sometimes it starts fast and other times a couple of min. Once I get it running and get in gear, the motor wants to dog down until I push in the eclectric choke and then it picks I might have to do this a couple of times before I can get moving. The motor works like a champ at top speed. Any ideas

Re: 115 starting/idling problem

I am guessing a 87-89. Had it out today same problem but it seems to idle fine if at a higher rpm that is with speed lever raised about 1 inch. Then it is hard to shift. Thanks

I believe the electric choke you are refering to is actually the primer solenoid. The extra gas you're getting to the carbs is keeping it alive. Try increasing the idle speed slightly. The idle screw on my 88 spl worked loose by a couple of rounds earlier this summer by repeatedly stopping and starting the engine everytime somebody fell off the tube. I added a lock nut on the back side of the screw to keep it in place. Also the fast start lever will need to be in the down position before you attempt to put it in gear.
