115 to 140 carbs

Not gettin any results from my other post so ill try this one. I have a 1978 140hp johnson Xflow that has a bad cylinder, I recently purchased a 1985 115hp Xflow powerhead complete except for the carbs. Can I bolt the carbs off the 140 to the 115 and go? What if any difference would it make? Anybody??

if they fit try it. it couldn't hurt anything. they are very similar motors.

the carbs off the 140 should fit, but may not be tuned for the 115. major differences will be the type of choke used (115 would have had a primer solenoid and not choke plates) and the fact that the newer carbs for the 115 would have had an intermediate jet, in addition to the idle and high speeds. other than that, they should bolt on. worst case is that the 140 carbs are too rich for the 115, and you need to get 115 carbs (from my armchair that is)

You'll most likely need to rejet the 140 carbs. The 140 has a different exhaust (bubble back), and high-compression heads.

Ok that was my other post on here since you mentioned the bubble back and heads. Im needing help with modifying the 115 using parts off the 140 such as the bubble back the heads carbs what ever needs to be used in order to make the 115 into a 140? I would like to get a detailed outlined of what I would have to do. All I need is a list of parts off the 140 that I use and how to clean out the webbing under the exhaust cover on back. I need facts people not opinions LOL! Thanks.
