1150 Timing Decal Question

My motor runs fine so this is just an academic question. Why does my timing decal have the thick black mark for TDC at 1* BTDC instead of on 0*. I tried to upload a pic but can't for some reason today. Merc850 has a post on the forum that shows his decal. Mine is identical.

Do you understand wide open full throttle spark advance on that motor ?--It really is the only ignition timing adjustment you do.---------Do you understand the term " throttle pick-up " on that motor ?----It is the point where throttle starts to open relative to the spark timing.

i understand the link and sink very well. Like I said my motor runs fine. Just curious at to why Mercury put the thick line is on 1* instead of 0* on the decal.
