My motor will not start under normal conditions (priming ball, choking etc.). Only time I've had it running with ears on is when I use quick start. Have done this twice only & engine runs pretty good and responsive to nutral throttle. Quite aware 2 strokes don't like "quick start". Motor has not run in water for a couple of years. Does this sound like a classic case Of the carborator float being stuck? As well as myself.

Actually, any injected starting fluid enriches the fuel/air mix, which is what your chokes are supposed to do when they are used correctly.

sounds like the carb could use a good cleaning and i would inspect the choke linkage to make sure it engages completely. Use a spray bottle of pre-mixed gasoline instead of quick start.

here is a good thread to get you started for a 'new to me' motor:

Check the choke solenoid when you turn the key to on and push in on the key. The solenoid should close the choke plates.

Yes when I switch to choke butterflies very responsive, but when I turn choke off gas flows out of carbs that can't be right.
