John, Again please don't post if your not helping. My god, should I say you apparently didn't learn to read.....just like you say, you got the impression I haven't opened the manual? Cause if you had read my posting ...don't post if your not helping. There are plenty of others you can help.

I think I forgot to mention last night, I went to my control panel under my steering wheel and i took the black/yellow wire off of my safety lanyard. I tried starting with still zero success. I appreciate the help, I might take Johns advice and stop posting and take it to an actual person who can just diagnose it. Again thanks for the help, and sorry if I wasn't helpful on getting the information to you that was needed. I will keep you updated on what the mechanic says was the actual issues. Take the black wire with yellow trace off the switchbox. Just taking it off the lanyard doesnt eliminate the mercury switch, ignition switch, or damaged cable. If any of these are bad and grounding out, you will not get spark. If with this wire removed you still dont get spark, i would recommend taking it to a mechanic.

Just to be clear the switch box is the 6 inch by 3 inch black box on the side of engine with 10 cables attached to it. the black and yellow is the 2nd in from the left at the top.

Nautique, Thanks for the help I am heading to the docks for some drinks with friends who have boats on my dock...so i will try that. Never hurts to try one more time prior to taking it to the boat doctor. Again thanks for everyones help. I will let you know how it turns out.

OK, well I finally went to the boat docks and tried what was suggested. I took the black/yellow off of the switch box and tried to start.....well nothing happened. Everything did the exact same as before.....turned over and over and still NOTTA. It is getting fuel still, but it is not wanting to even thing about starting. Where should I go from here? Thanks for the help. Any help is appreciated!

Ok I think you've eliminated everything that is designed to make a motor not run. Now it's time to get more involved. The first thing to do is get a timing light and find out where the timing is set. I have a sneaking hunch it's gonna be all over the place.
If it is, then you need to make a decision. Proceed with the electrical system troubleshooting or take it to a shop. Armed with the info from the tests you've done you should cut down the shop time by a good hour at least.

scheffer thanks, by taking out the black/yellow wire.....does that eliminate the possible issue's with it being the stator or coils? Just curious... how could the motors timing go so far out of whack? I ask only cause when this first all started...the motor actually was running....it seemed to shut off only because it wasnt' warmed up yet. Then after it shut down was when this issue started. As you have read I am no mechanic so I am just trying to learn as I go....so next time I know why certain things happen the way they do. Appreciate the help.

I'm actually leaning in the direction of the trigger. The black and yellow wire is the heart of the engine kill system. By eliminating it we got rid of all the things that normally kill an engine. So now we're on to looking at trigger, stator and coils. Those test are a little more extensive and I don't know your skill level with electronic test equipment. I've suggested you take it to a shop now rather than buy equipment you'll only use once. Often a bad trigger or stator will cause your timing to become erratic but you'll still have spark. It just wont be happening at the right time.

So I am going to go to the store to buy a meter....hopefully somewhat idiot proof. When I do the testing...I will have a friend that knows what he is doing, but do you think this meter will suit my needs? I know there are more expensive ones out there but I am hoping this one will suffice. What is the opinion on this one? If it won't work, do you have a link of one?

This will work for the simple resistance tests. I'm not sure about using a DVA with it.

This will work for the simple resistance test, but I guess it won't give me the results that I am looking for. I need to be able for OHMs between 1.0 and 1.5, so I can see if the stator is out. If it is, then on to the trigger also. Thanks
