okay so I just got my boat in the water and what not, So im running it at near full thorrtle messing with tilt a bit, and long story short i slow down a bit and kinda try to speed up w/e I dont remember but i remember seing the prop out of the water for anywhere from 1 to 3 seconds while in gear and running maybe at like 40-60% throttle. After that I had a little hard time getting the boat to plane, It was weird it would sometimes and wouldnt somtimes, it might have been because I was scared to press my foot down more I dunno... the engine would also make this light clicking or knocking noise... it wasnt too loud but I could hear it when i was listening to it, this was at about 30% throttle.

So Im wondering what I might have possibly have done to my motor, and What I can do to fix it? how much it would cost at a mechanic? and how I could go at fixing it myself etc...

Thanks,
I only had the boat out of the no wake zone and about 30 seconds later this happened :/

1st what 115 model number? what is messing with the tilt a bit? does you motor have trim and tilt? or were you adjusting the tilt pin. your statement is really hard to read and follow. what was the depth of the water?

The serial number is J115TLAND

its a 93 115hp johnson... the water was plenty deep id say about 30-40ft...

and yes I have a tilt and trim switch on my gear box or whatever you call it...

also the boat has a hot foot, which is in a pretty tight place...

I was raising the tilt up a little bit, just to mess with the trim but it wasnt out of the water, I think I may have gone over some big waves and then slowed down, and that caused the prop to come out of the water for a little bit, or when i was slowing down the trim was just too high and how the waves were positioned and what not, the prop was out of the water... It wasnt out of the water for very long only 1-3 seconds.

I hope this is explained better, but probably not ;)

should not have done any damage other than, you may have spun a prop, with the prop coming out, reving up, and then hitting the water again, and taking the load.

take a permanent marker, remove the prop, draw a straight line, like the picture. take the boat for a spin, make it do what it is doing. come home remove the prop, if the lines are still line up, it is not the prop, if misaligned, the hub in the prop has slipped, and need to have a new hub installed by a prop shop, or a new prop.

i have gone air born quiet a few times accidentally, never done any damage, other than a prop.

you said something about not wanting to come up on plane and you playing with the tilt...what do you do with your trim before you take off?? you need to have the engine tucked under as far as it will go...or trimmed all the way down when you take off...this helps keep the bow down and pull the transom up quicker...if you are not all the way tucked under yourself when you take off the bow will ride up in the air and you'll have trouble planing out, not to mention its more stressful on the transom and engine...you probably know that but if not there you go. :D Like tashasdaddy said your prop could make your noise as the hub slips and that could very likely cause your problems planing.
