Hello everyone!

New to the site. And plan on being very active! I have the boating Bug !

Just came across a 1990 Sea Ray Laguna 17 CC in great condition. Only 599 hours with a 115HP Mercury Outboard.

Great Looking Boat. Took it out for our Maiden Voyage the other night, and after about 5 minutes on the lake, she started acting up. WE left the ramp, headed down the river, and entered the lake. Started to plane and held strong for about 5-7 minutes. We decided that she was running well and we would turn around. Slowed down and turned around and started to give it throttle to plane again. Well, at that point, it wouldn't go over 3000 RPM and we putted back in. No matter what we did, there was loss of power.

Once we made it back to the mouth of the river, we realized we were now going to fast for the no-wake.
Since it wouldn't slow down, we decided to put it into neutral. AFter that, it would jump in and out of gear, real hard. Without us doing anything.

We shut it off and asked for a tow back in.

Hope someone can give me an idea.
NExt day I checked fuel bowls, fuel filter, lower gear oil. There was new gas and new oil in it. WE have spark on all 4 cylinders.

It also almost fell as if the quicksilver throttle was tough to adjust once it started acting up and kicking in and out of gear. The neutral push button was hard to engage and the throttle was a little tough to move around. Even though nothing helped.

.....So today, I hook up the rabbit ears, start it up, and she is idling fine in the driveway. What Gives!

I do know that the impeller needs replaced. It is not pissing out water like it should be. I dont think we overheated the motor while we were out for that 20-30 minutes. The gauge went up to normal and then cooled right back down.

Any advice would help!

Thank you.

Here she is. Also, the other biggest problem...Missing the Sea Ray Decals! lol. Need to find some metal decals for it. Ebay only sells the vinyl decals.
