hello everone,
I own a 1977 Merc. 50 HP and am looking to trade up as it just doesn't push my 17' bayliner very well.

I found a guy who owns a 1979? 115HP Mariner Outboard, who is intrested in trading for my 50HP MERC.
I looking for the good and bad with the 115HP Mariner outboard. Is the Mariner a cheap version of the Merc? Just looking for a little feed back on this outboard. Thanks in advance.

Don't know if the Mariner grey paint are ceaper, but the only difference are the color and the shape on the top cowl + decals...

The 115 are a nice engine if it's maintained...

If your lucky this 1979 might have the newer ADI ignition system ( came mid 79 ), this engine are a 90 hp by the new propeller measured standard ( 1983 > )

A slightly better engine would be a 1984 > 1988 115 since it got some improvements..
  • New power trim
  • New transom brackets ( BIA standard )
  • And this one ARE 115hp at the propeller ( 115 + some )
But the 79 115 engine are NOT a bad engine :), got a 1980 90@140 hp solid engine as it can handle my use....
