115johnson wont run in run pos.

1996 johnson outboard runs and idols in start position but not in run position.i have replaced the ignition switch and the rectifyer. there dose not appear to be any shorts in the ignition switch wireing

you have a wire in the wrong position on ignition switch.

the problem originated before i changed out the ignition switch. one day the engine was running fine ,it began to idol rough, then it would not idol,but it would run, then it ran at high rpm then shut down. thats when i discoverd it would run in the start position.
