How do I post pics?

Posting pictures will not help. Put a spark tester on the plug wires and see if the spark will jump a 3/8" gap with a loud bright blue snap. If it does that confirms good spark. The only thing left is problems with fuel.

It looks mounted just fine. May be just too much stuff added to the boat and it's too heavy. What is the HP rating listed on that transom plate ?

Not to be ***** are you sure that boat is only 12 feet? looks to be a 14.
If you had a 15 hp on a 12' it would one scary ride.
something does not add up

The transom says 15hp max. The boat is indeed 12'! I've been told that the smaller the boat the more easily they are effected by weight.

Could the issue be too much weight in the back?

I wondered the same thing! Because it seem to improve the more I moved foward in the boat

I believe you've answered your own question, 16' worth of 'stuff' in a 12' boat can't have a good outcome if it's all in the stern half. You might want to move your tilt pin a hole or two forward ... ;)

In my 'lil 13 foot whaler, the gas tank is opposite me on the port side. The battery is all the way up front. Nothing is in the stern area. The old girl is getting a little butt-heavy in her old age, like me, but I'm running a 40hp and it's propped and trimmed for the load. Try rearranging stuff and playing with the trim pin first, then start losing some of the decking. If it is 3/4" stuff, you could have 200 extra pounds in there.

Re: 12' aluminum v-hull won't plane

Regardless of size a boat with a max hp engine such as this should plane and do it quite easily. Example, my 14' Lund DLX which has a factory installed floor, a dry weight of 365# and a max hp rating of 35hp is a bit larger than this boat. When I 1st got it there was no engine with it. I put a 1969 9.5hp Johnson on it to just try it out and get it wet, look for leaks and such. With just me in the boat and that setup it would plane. Took a little to get it going but it would come up. Soon changed the 9.5 to an 18hp and it would fly. I now have a 35hp on it along with the battery, folding seats/pedistals and such and the boat isn't really any faster on top end than when it was just the 18hp but it does come up to plane much faster.

Question, with no one in the boat how is it sitting in the water? Does it already look loaded or is it floating high? Also what size prop are you running?

It sits low, especially near the back, also it lists to the left!

So the capacity plate states 15hp max. What is the load capacity? Then try and figure just how much load is in it w/o people. Plywood deck, carpet, seats, built-in boxes, batteries, fuel, then add your weight!

yup. You may also have some waterlogged wood and/or carpeting. While no one item may weigh very much, all the little bits can start to add up rather quickly. You can also use yourself as ballast by using a tiller extender which will allow you to move forward to help redistribute the load. You can buy fancy aluminum, or carbon fiber versions, but I just made one out of PVC with a few slits in one end to slip over the stock tiller and secured in place with a few SS pipe clamps. Mine only cost about $5 and it works like a charm.
