12 ft hiawatha cartopper?

hi, am a newby to your forum,i just bought a 12'hiawatha cartopper,has no id plate or stamped plates etc.i think it's a fifties or sixties boat.was this boat manufactured by the same company that made the outboards of the same name?i'm reading that gamble-skogmo marketed the engines?what was the h.p. rating?appriciate any other information. thanks,buffalo

Hi Ed welcome to the forums! 12' tinnies are usually rated anywhere from 5hp to 15hp. It depends on the gauge of aluminum, amount of transom reinforcing and other issues. Mine is rated for a 7.5hp outboard as it is lighter and only has one knee brace pushing back on the transom.

If I were you I'd post some pictures and see if anyone has the same boat. If not at least we will know what you are looking at. Congrats on the purchase:D
