Re: 12' Sears Gamefisher resto

It's great to hear about some more of these little boats getting restored, I am absolutely loving mine, and have been using it nearly every day since completion with the Johnson 18 outboard. The boat is slightly overpowered, but it was one of those situations where the two came together by chance...i cannot afford another motor even in a smaller size, and cannot part with such a nice piece as this 1957 Seahorse. The good thing is the motor will only go as fast as I twist the handle, and is very smooth and controllable. These boats are super light, and repond very well to oars or a push pole...a trolling motor would most likely do just fine for close fishing. Post some pics or links to your Gamefishers, i'd love to see them!

I am going to go get the boat in a couple weeks and will have some photos to post soon. Also will hunt for the title, owners manual, & other documentation which I am quite certain exist being that my Dad made a file on everything and never threw much away. Might take me a little while to post photos because I don't know how to do it, but I will figure it out. I have a digital camera but don't know how to get from the photos to the forum yet.:(

I am going to go get the boat this coming weekend so will have some photos to post soon. All you need to do to post photos is go to a hosting site, I use photobucket.com, it is free and all you have to do is upload your pictures to their site from your computer. First register with the site, then choose options and pick re-size photos to 640 x 480. Now you can click upload photos. Once you have uploaded the pics to that site, it will give you a few options of codes to copy underneath the picture you have uploaded. Use the IMG code. Click the code to highlight, copy that code and paste it here along with your message. Hope this helps. :)

Upload the camera photos to your computer.

Click the little picture icon (hover text display says "insert picture) on the Message Posting tool bar, and do the "browse" finding routine. Then just click your way though and you will be a photo posting legend...

I have one of these gamefishers too, but mine is a 14' tri-hull. It's ugly as hell (i.e. has character), but it's super fun and stable.

I'm going to put in floor inserts exactly like you did (on page 1) to make the floor flat.

I was also thinking of building a deck between the bow and the second bench and adding a pedestal seat.

Re: 12' Sears Gamefisher resto

I have not visited in awhile, but I will get that boat likely within the next two weeks. It is getting cold and I will have to drive with my extended van's rear doors opened/tied on the expressway with the boat on the folded down seats behind the front seats. If I don't step on it, I am going to freeze. I am trying to get a male friend of mine to go with me and do some fishing. The lake is small (it is technically a lake as per DNR) with only two homes on it. My parents bought the home in 1974 and it is secluded and fenced in such that nobody fishes it. As such, it is really good fishing. Even I usually manage to snag a keeper largemouth bass with a jitterbug. I was notified via email of the last message and that I must visit or I guess I will vanish from existence relative to this forum. I thought that I should make an entry to make sure that my visit was properly documented. I am enthusiastic about this project but realize that it may take a long time to complete being that I have to learn everything! However, I look forward to finding my Dad's file relative to the boat which I anticipate will contain not only the owner's manual, but likely original purchase documentation and most certainly the title. It will be fun to review and I am sure that there are other similarly situated enthusiasts out there who will also be interested. I just reviewed my posts and it appears that I must have erased one that was not a duplicate because there seems to be a portion of story missing. Oh well, this is my first "forum" so I can only improve.:)

Re: 12' Sears Gamefisher resto

As mentioned in a previous post, the "Ted Williams" Sears Gamefisher fiberglass boats were manufactured by MFG. These boats are very seaworthy but a little heavy for their size. Overall are a great boat on a light little trailer but I think they are cumbersome as a car-topper. Slide into a pickup OK though.

This looks just like the 12' Gamefisher I am close to painting myself. Fiberglass repairs and scratch filling/sanding are 95% done. I don't have a thread or photos on it, but you will find others and more info on your boat in the MFG Forum here in iBoats.

Re: 12' Sears Gamefisher resto

Never fear, I am still here. Happy New Year To All You Fellow Sears Resto Enthusiasts Out There In Iboats.comland! I just love how iboats.com automatically sends me an email reminder each time somebody posts a message. I was not able to pick up said boat over Thanksgiving because it was so cold and without lights on the boat, it is illegal for it to extend out the rear of my van at night. Plus it got too cold to drive with the rear open. Thanksgiving in the midwest varies from almost no coat to freezing depending on the year. We are buried in snow now but as soon as it warms up a bit I will be on my way. My Mom wants it out of there asap and I look forward to my Spring 2010 project. I want to step on it to at least get it seaworthy for the nice weather. Come spring I will be rockin with photos, questions, and plenty of documentation.

Mine says MFG on the manufacture plate and it's a Sears Gamefisher fiberglass.

Re: 12' Sears Gamefisher resto

Sorry about the lost pics, i accidentally deleted some pics a while back...if I find the missing ones I will work on getting them back. There are a few pics left of the boat finished and painted left on the previous pages. Keep 'em alive! I love mine, and still use it. The paint has held up very well on the inside of the boat, it was epoxy garage floor paint. The outside is painted with rustoleum, and is mostly scraped off the bottom already.

Re: 12' Sears Gamefisher resto

I am subscribed on this. I just bought a 12' Gamefisher like this with a '69 7.5 Merc motor. $375.00 with a trailer, I sold the trailer for $200.00 so I am $175.00 net right now. The motor appears to be in great same. I am re-sealing the bottom end and re-building the water pump, fuel pump, and carb. The boat looks like it hit a rock on the keel about center way, that will take some fixing. This thread is great with info. I wish the pictures were still there. LOL I had to sand off 2-3 coats of paint to find the "Ted Williams Gamefisher 12" logo. At least I know what I have now.

Anyone know what years these were built?
