12' vhull project

I've seen the john boat to bass boat web site and I'm thinking something along these lines but I have a fiberglass hull, it has 3 pre molded seats now, at first I was just going to throw a sheet of ply wood on them and glass over it, then started reading about stringers, I thought about making center braces between the seats to streagthen the floor but how can I attach them to the fiberglass, Their are foam blocaks under the seats now, If I add the weight of the plywood and some storage boxes, batery, small outboard, would this be adaquate or do I have to add more, thanks all,

i think you best reconsider your situation. put the boat in the water, then stand on the sets, and see how stable the boat is. most are not stable enough to do what you want. the higher center of gravity, makes the extremely tippy. one move of the other person in the boat, can send you swimming, or worse capsize the boat.

Ayuh,.....

I don't think you have hull enough to support the added Weight you're talking about,....
And,...
As TD eludes to,... It'll be Tippy as 'ell....

I have done something similar to what you are talking about to my 14fter, but only after testing the center of gravity a lot. My 14fter is wide and stable......I would NEVER consider doing that with my 12fter. Just sitting in that boat makes it tippy.

I agree with TD and Bondo...........that is not enough hull to support that much weight or the change in center of gravity.

I'm glad I posted before getting underway with the project, I think I'll just repair the transom and keep her the way she is, Could be a cool fresh water boat the way it is. thanks
