I have a 1994 force 120 and had it in the driveway the other day, decided to run it before taking it out on the water....it ran well for about 2 minutes....then it suddenly shut off as if i had hit the kill switch...i can not get it restarted after several days....i tested for spark at the plugs and there is none.....checked all fuses..everything is good....seeing as there are 4 coils on it....i highly doubt that 4 of them all blew at once..so the problem must lie before them.....could it be...the stator?...or would it be something else....any test i can do myself?....thanks for any input...

Just clarifying...when you ran it on the driveway..were you running muffs or in a tub?

Sounds like you're sure its spark related and not fuel related...right?

Are you able to hand turn it over? (Nothing seized up) Battery fully charged? Did you check your laynard/kill switch? Check your neutral safety switch? Check your solenoid? Does your starter even crank? Did your reset button trip?

yes it turns over great....batteries fully charged(i have 2)..not seized up....bypassed the lanyard kill switch to eliminate it.....still no go......cranks great..so not solenoid...neutral safety switch?...i do not know how to check it...is it in the throttle assembly?....rest button trip?...dont even know what it is.....can you tell me where it is?......
Thanks...for the reply..appreciate the input

Oh..and I was running muffs...better quality ones, that have a hose running to each side.

If its turning over, its not the reset button. The button on my 85hp-1987 is located just below the starter. It trips when theres a short to prevent major problems.

hmmm... Turns over fine...but has no spark...

Spark plugs? Wires? Coils? Timing?

I'm no expert...but those would be some other places to start testing.

In the FAQS section of this forum theres a good troubleshooting section. Look there for hints and also in your manuals (Solec or Clymer, etc.)
