Re: 120 Evinrude Fuel Pump beware
Hi, Ive had a 1988 120 evinrude since 1992 bought it used. The motor still runs like a bear although id had problems which made me think i needed a new fuel pump.It turned out to just need ,new thermostats, water sperator fuel filter and a good timing and new gasohol fuel lines.Did all thatstill i t lost power. It turned out i piched a fuel line when i put the carb cover back on.Many times i was sure it was the pump and glad i didnt buy one. They updated them in the early nineties and they last with gasohol reisitant seals.Yikes, the pump would have cost me almost 500. and still would have not solves the simple solution.
The motor is on a 19 gls seanymph and it truely flys now.The boat realy gets up on plane fast ,puts you back in your seat.
Not bad for a 24 year old motor which never had any serious work done to it.
I also have a 1978 9.9 seahorse i had since 1989.proobaly have over a thousand hours on it trolling and still runs greatOnly had to replace lower unit seal and water pump once since ive owned it..
I also have a 268 searay which is a castle when your on the big lake.Unfortuanely it does use about ten times what my seanymph does.
